We planned to spend several days in SIkkim, a northern state in India, with a fairly set schedule but fate intervened in the form of government holidays, business closures and other unplanned events, I am so grateful for those interruptions and the karma of being there the one day a year this festival is held at Rumtek Monastery. The colors, the symbolism and the delight of the crowd were unforgettable.
