Ayutthaya-the former capitol of Thailand

Ayutthaya is the former capital just north of Bangkok and an easy journey by train. The grounds of the former palace are breathtaking even though largely destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century after a mere 400 years. At one time it was one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and is now an unesco world heritage site. I spent a lovely day there in 2008 taking countless photographs of long ago splendor.

heads and burning everything
